Description
My brother plays football. I’m a cheerleader. We share a rental house two streets off campus because rent is insane and neither of us wants a roommate.
It works. It’s worked for two years. He leaves his cleats in the doorway, I take the good parking spot, and we split the electric bill down the middle like adults.
Then one morning I’m on the living room floor stretching and doing splits before practice and he comes out of the kitchen and stops short. He puts a cushion over his lap and pretends to eat his cereal.
My brother’s a terrible liar.
But I ignore it, because there’s a house rule for everything except this one.
Then we throw a house party — forty people, a loudspeaker, red Solo cups everywhere. By midnight somebody’s knocked a cup off the counter and I’m on my knees with a wad of paper towels.
My brother walks in.
And that’s when things get way out of hand.
